Our second half term is moving at an impressive pace since our return to school in January! The term began with mock exams for our Year 11, 12 and 13s which allowed students to experience how their exams will run in May and June. This is a vital learning opportunity for our senior students as they practise their knowledge learnt in class in ‘true’ exam conditions and also learn about examination rules and regulations, as well as  allowing them to experience the pressure often associated with the exam room. By sitting practice exams, students can then work out the strategies needed to achieve their best in the summer exam season. Following the release of their mock exam results, parents were invited to an additional Parent Consultation Event to discuss their child’s progress and how best to support them in the lead up to the external exams.

 

Term 2 has also been a term filled with events and trips as well as academic rigour! We hosted Battle of the Bands here at Bromsgrove and three of our secondary bands entered to competition. All of our bands performed brilliantly on stage and we were particularly proud of our group Black Eagle who came second in the Senior section of the competition. Congratulations!

 

Secondary Sports Day at Windsor Park was a resounding success despite a pesky rain shower forcing an early lunch! All of the Secondary students participated in the large variety of athletic activities on offer and earnt a large amount of participation points for their House! It was fantastic to see all students giving their all, be it taking part in an event or cheering on their fellow house students. The final standings of the day were Edwards in 1st place, followed by Taylor in 2nd and Walters in 3rd.

 

The first half term of Term 2 ended with Secondary Challenge Week and eight trips headed out from Windsor Park on Monday 12 February. The Year 7s went to Khao Yai, Year 8 to Chanthaburi, Year 9 to Kanchanaburi, Year 10 to The Howling Gibbon in Khao Yai, Year 11 to Sukhothai and Year 12 and Year 13 to two different venues in Chiang Mai. All the experiences gave students the opportunity to get outside of their comfort zone and for the majority of trips, to also engage in a service element.

 

The remainder of half term 2 is packed with further events and trips and I look forward to updating you in early April.
