Boarding Update – Starts Academic Year 2017-18

September 19, 2017

It has been a fantastic start to the Academic Year 2017/2018 and we are extremely proud of how quickly both our new and returning students have settled into Boarding and school life. With the Boarding houses now being home to nearly a third of the school, this summer saw improvements to our Upper Boarder’s Study Room and all ensuite bedrooms in Windsor House as well as purchases for arts and crafts, cooking supplies, and sports equipment which should all be arriving very soon!

As well as over thirty new students, we have some new members to our boarding staff team who are already sharing their expertise either through pastoral, enrichment or academic developments.

Miss Jessica has started off our Thursday Team Time events including: dodgeball, capture the flag and more recently, our very own Trashion Show. With the help of Mr JK, Ms Natcha and Mrs Cluver we have been able to continue to improve communication between parents, Guardians, Boarding and school which has allowed us to support students and parents in a range of languages.

Mr Thee has been working with some of our oldest students to set up the Boarding Shop which has been welcomed by all students. Mr Joe, has been working hard to get to know the students over the past few weeks and has been using his experience from summer camp to support their needs. Mr Cluver, the Deputy Head of Boarding has been working with the Heads of Boarding to develop plans for the year ahead.

We are excited to inform you that Ms Meacham and Mr Barnes have joined us from the academic team and will be working with us to support students with their studies in the evenings and offering a range of additional activities for boarders to get involved with.

We have started the term with a wide range of Boarding trips including: bowling, art in paradise, shopping and we are excited to go to Bounce this weekend with a number of day students.

Please check our facebook page (BIST Boarding) for upcoming trips and to follow what we have all been up to.
