This week, children in Year 2 visited the ancient ruins of Wat Mahathat in Ayutthaya. The purpose of the trip was to help them understand how people might have lived in the past. In class, the children have been studying ‘Castles’ and trying to make deductions as to what castles might have looked like in their full glory. By looking at castle ruins, they have been able to build up pictures of how they might have looked from their understanding of castle features. The children were able to do the same by looking at the ancient ruins of Wat Mahathat and gained first hand experience of how people might have lived in the past.

Although a little hot, the children thoroughly enjoyed themselves and we finished off the the visit with a lovely picnic lunch and games in the temple grounds.
