The Primary School shares a building with the Secondary Department, although we have our own dedicated floor which is very much the Primary territory!  Although Bromsgrove International School is in Bangkok, the Windsor Park campus is located on the north-eastern fringes of the metropolitan area so is surrounded by paddy fields, a golf course and masses of fresh air.  The views from our classrooms are a fantastic resource and, depending on the time of year, we can see rice being planted or harvested, open billed storks roosting in nearby trees and egrets fishing in paddies and ponds.  The school is on a green-field site so offers our Primary students large areas of open grass in which to run around and play during break-times and after school – this is very rare in city schools.

Children arrive at the Windsor Park campus in Year 3 (aged 7 – 8 years), when they move up from the Foundation Stage and Key Stage 1 campus on Ramkhamhaeng Road.  At the end of Key Stage 2 (Year 6, aged 11 years) our students graduate to the Secondary Department which, being on the same site, aids the transition to Year 7, which is generally a relatively easy and painless process. Towards the end of their final year in Primary school, our Year 6 students have ‘tasters’ of life in the Secondary environment and are invited to take part in a variety of lessons run by the Secondary teachers. They also have the opportunity of having a ‘practice day’ when they pretend to be real Year 7 students for half a day.

All the teaching staff at Bromsgrove Primary School are highly motivated, well qualified native speakers of English.  Teachers work closely as a team and enjoy a collegial atmosphere in which ideas can be generated and shared for the benefit of the children.  Current teachers at Bromsgrove Primary School hail from Australia, England, Ireland, Wales and South Africa sharing a wealth of experience in both British and International schools.

Philosophy and Ethos

We believe that all children can learn – with the right support and guidance from professional and caring teachers.  It is our mission to help children achieve their potential and we do this by maintaining high expectations and by providing all our students with a variety of carefully planned activities during lessons which relate to their varying learning styles.  We encourage our children to acquire independence and responsibility in their learning so that they develop enquiring minds and an enthusiasm for finding out more about the world around them.

We also encourage all our students to respect each other’s opinions, religion, beliefs and differences and to understand that we are not all the same, which is something to celebrate rather than denigrate.

Residential Field Trips

We also believe that learning happens effectively outside the classroom as well as within.  Children are encouraged to develop responsibility and self-reliance.  Overnight field trips are therefore a part of the school culture and all students are expected to take advantage of these.

Facilities

We are lucky that, despite being close to the urban centre of Bangkok, we are located on the fringes of the built-up areas so enjoy a real country-feel.  Although we are away from the city centre, security is still very important to us and all visitors have to pass through both the Windsor Park guards as well as the school’s own campus guards and security clearance procedures.

The Primary and Secondary students share all the Windsor Park facilities, although the Primary children have their own dedicated teaching area within the school.  All the children have access to the air-conditioned Sports Hall, the swimming pool, two computer suites, a performance hall, the Atrium (which can be used as a play area during the rainy season), a state-of-the art library and a dedicated dining-hall. Extensive playing fields surround the school and these can be enjoyed fully by all our students.

After School Activities

All Primary children are encouraged to participate in the activity programme which runs on two days each week after school, and during some lunch time sessions. The activities are run by Primary teachers, Secondary teachers and outside agencies (at a modest cost). As Bromsgrove International School is located within the grounds of Windsor Park Golf Club, all students have the opportunity to learn golf and develop their golf skills on professional standard 9 and 18 hole courses.
