Primary students are assessed continually by their class teachers in order to track progress and to inform planning. Most of the assessments are carried out informally, although more thorough testing is carried out in Literacy, Numeracy and Science at the end of Key Stage 2 in line with the UK SAT assessments.
Extensive written reports are sent home at the end of Term 1 and Term 3, with brief interim reports going home at the end of Term 2. Parent/teacher consultations are also held at the end of each term, although the teachers in the Primary School understand that a good relationship between school and home is essential to each student’s educational well-being so operate an ‘open door policy’ to enable parents to meet with their child’s class teacher at any time that is mutually convenient. Curriculum information is sent home at the beginning of each term so that our students and their parents have a clear idea of what is being studied throughout the year.
