Academic Rigour, Discipline, Respect and Flair. These are the values to which we bind the ethos of our school. Put another way; Secondary Education at Bromsgrove International School Thailand, (BIST), is about well-organised programmes of study and an environment that encourages young people and teachers alike to aim high while at the same time realising that nothing comes without hard work.
When your child grows into Secondary education there is a lot changing in their lives; school changes from one teacher for all subjects to one teacher for each subject. Students can no longer be sure who will be in the same class as them for each lesson, who they will sit next to or what is expected of them from each teacher. They have to manage a timetable that sends them from room to room and bring the right books on the right day, packing bulky text books and bulging pencil cases into a new bag that is probably half their height, and possibly half their weight too! As a parent you cannot believe that your little son or daughter has made it to this stage so quickly and your pride is equal to your nervousness for them as they head off for their first day.
When your child grows out of Secondary education they will be ready to leave home, live independently, take responsibility for their own education, survive out there in the real world and contribute positively to society. They will be aware that as globalisation makes people in distant places as well known to us as our neighbours, their success is strongly connected to that of all people, and to the protection of our planet.
What a change in just seven years; what key years these are for all our children, and here is how we at BIST believe we stand out: we see these years from your child's point of view. We anticipate the difficulties and cushion the impact of change. We support when our children think they cannot achieve something and we guide them through their mistakes to ensure that the lessons are learnt. We appreciate how much children learn through play, dialogue and activity, and we know that to learn, children have to feel safe and secure, trusted and respected. We are a family growing together, recognising the strengths of individuals, changing with the needs of the group and being there for each other. We want our children to lead happy and successful lives and keep this aim in mind throughout their time with us.
I invite you to visit us at any time to experience for yourself the unique atmosphere of our school.
