Curriculum Guide

The Early Years Campus caters for children aged 2 – 6 years of age. We operate both the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) curriculum for children aged 2 – 5 years and the English National Curriculum (ENC) for children aged 5 – 6 years.

We offer a curriculum that fosters a holistic approach to education, equipping children with the basic experiences needed to go forward in life both inside and outside of school. The medium of instruction is English. In addition, we offer Thai lessons to all children, allowing children to learn about the local culture and language. Learning at BIST Early Years Campus is both teacher and child led.

On Early Years Campus, our classes are structured as shown below:

Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS)

Pre-Nursery Class – for children aged 2 and 3 (maximum class size of 12)
Nursery Class – for children aged 3 and 4 (maximum class size of 15)
Reception Class – for children aged 4 and 5 (maximum class size of 20)

Children aged 2 – 5 years old follow the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) curriculum. At BIST, we ensure that this curriculum is personalised to meet the needs of all our children, this enables all of our young learners to flourish and develop a lifelong love of learning from a very early age in a truly caring, safe and supportive environment.

Our specially designed classrooms and outdoor spaces are equipped with the resources needed to develop and extend the key areas of learning, as laid out in the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) curriculum:

  • Communication and Language
  • Physical Development
  • Personal, Social and Emotional Development
  • Literacy
  • Mathematics
  • Expressive Arts and Design
  • Understanding of the world

English language acquisition is key to children’s success in all areas of the curriculum. This means that stories, music and conversation play an important role in all lessons. We also understand the importance of physical development and so all children have specialist sports provision. From Nursery Class onwards the children have swimming lessons in our school swimming pool. In addition, to ensure that children are alert and able to make use of our excellent facilities, Pre-Nursery and Nursery children have the option of a rest/sleep after lunch.

Primary School – Key Stage 1

Curriculum Guide

Year 1 Class – for children aged 5 and 6 (maximum class size of 20)

Children aged 5 – 6 years move into Primary School and will follow the new English National Curriculum in Year 1. Children will learn through a thematic curriculum, which is a theme-based learning approach that encourages children to learn different subjects through a single theme, in order to hook in their interest and excitement and build key skills in purposeful, practical contexts. This allows the inspiring learning that began in the Early Years Foundation Stage to continue into Year 1 and beyond. The curriculum covers all subjects including:

  • English – phonics, reading, writing, speaking, listening and drama
  • Mathematics
  • Science
  • Computing
  • Humanities – history and geography
  • Art and Design Technology
  • PSHE – personal, social and health education
  • Music
  • Sport and Physical Education
  • Languages
  • Thai Culture

Our energy, drive and expertise make us a leading Early Years Campus, providing children with a hands-on learning experience that will equip them with skills for life.
