Boarding Update – Half Term of Term 2 Academic Year 2017-18

March 16, 2018

Term 2:1 was yet another busy but exciting term for the Boarders. We welcomed lots of new faces to our home, meaning that we now have 110 Boarders making up our Boarding community and really adding to the family atmosphere that we all love to be a part of.

The term began with mock exams for our Year 11, 12 and 13 students and we were incredibly proud of their dedication towards their revision and studies, with many of them making use of our Academic Tutors to support their essay writing and subject knowledge. Our Primary Boarders have been truly immersed in our specialised Primary provision and have had lots of fun with their teachers during Enrichment including baking, sports, yoga and performing arts activities. Miss Gemma is also incredibly proud of the progress the Primary Boarders are making with their reading and their spelling: we hope they keep up their good work! Secondary students have also been determined to improve their academics, with many students taking part in the weekly STEM Club with Mr Barnes, which not only provides a range of activities based around science, technology engineering and maths, but has helped some of our newer students learn and use key scientific vocabulary, which will help them with their classwork.

Again this term there have been lots of exciting trips which full boarders, weekly boarders and even day students have enjoyed attending. The highlights have included Dream World, Escape Hunt, Ice Skating and Bowling, all of which wouldn’t have been possible without the support of teachers from school.

This term will also be rather busy with trips for day students and Boarders to Cartoon Network, Bounce/Rock Climbing and Dinosaur Planet, as well as our annual Boarding Songkran Party. We would like to take this opportunity to remind you that ‘flexi-boarding’ is always available for day students if you would ever like your child to spend a specific duration of time within boarding.  Please contact us if your child would like to attend any of these trips or spend a few evenings in boarding.
