HE Advisor Introduction
Dear Parents,
I am excited to introduce myself as the new HE advisor, a role that is key in supporting students towards the next stage of their lives. As Year 12 are now coming to the end of their first year of A Level study, they will be starting to think about their future careers after BIST. The same applies to our Year 11 students as they approach the end of their iGCSE studies and think about which A Levels and BTEC courses to take to allow them to access their preferred Higher Education courses.
Recently, I have had the opportunity to begin my new role when I travelled to Hong Kong as part of an introduction to a university there. During my visit, I got a glimpse into student life and to what universities now have to offer: everything from engineering degrees that are involved in moon landings, to degree programmes in business where students can work with Microsoft.
I recognise the importance of ensuring that your son or daughter is able to take the career path that they have dreamt of, with it also being one that is best suited to their particular skills set and my Hong Kong experience has given me even more food for thought. At BIST, we promise to guide, inform and support our students with everything from researching universities to writing personal statements, to help make this happen.
I very much look forward to working with all Sixth Form students in the up and coming academic year.
