Spotlight on English at BIST

October 9, 2019

Benjamin Franklin once said “Tell me and I forget. Teach me and I remember. Involve me and I learn” and if we take this to be true, then there was certainly a lot of learning taking place in the English classrooms this week. Students in Key Stages 3-5 had the chance to act, debate, decode texts, compete in grammar games and write collective stories. All of these learning experiences got students involved not only intellectually, but physically as they moved around the classrooms to complete different English activities. Differentiated tasks and mixed ability groups ensured that each student had their chance to shine. Activities of this nature serve as a mere snapshot of what students can expect to experience as the English faculty continues to promote the students’ mastery of Spelling, Punctuation, and Grammar (SPAG) this year.
