Thai Language, Culture & History (TLCH) Curriculum
The Thai Language, Culture, and History (TLCH) curriculum at Bromsgrove International School Thailand (BIST) follows the guidelines of the Office of the Private Education Commission (OPEC).
Thai Language, Culture & History (TLCH)
Thai culture and history lessons at BIST are designed to be inspirational and enhance the knowledge and experiences of Thai traditions for all students throughout the school. All students must attend at least one Thai culture and history lesson each week. Overall, there is a focus on continuous learning and development, focusing on Thai language, Thai culture, and Thai history.
The school truly celebrates Thai history and traditional cultural events and activities such as Loy Krathong and Songkran which involve the whole school community (students, parents and school staff). The school also leverages local cultural resources and wisdom, with many educational trips for students (of all ages) to experience Thai culture and history within the local community and outside the school.
Our Thai language teaching is mainly focused on students of Thai nationality (or dual nationality) whose native language is Thai. Students attend between 2 and 4 Thai language lessons each week depending on their key stage. Students of single Thai nationality are required by Thai law, to study Thai IGCSE study programme. Various assessment methods are designed to enhance sustainable learning for students.
