On Monday, our students had the outstanding opportunity to meet a talented musician, and receive expert advice and guidance from a celebrated pianist. It was an absolute pleasure to invite a role model of high prestige to inspire our music scholars at such an early stage in their musical lives.
Bromsgrove was honoured with the presence of Dr. Junghwa Lee, a celebrated Korean pianist who has frequently appeared in concerto performances, chamber concerts, lecture recitals and solo recitals. She has toured her musical talents around the globe, performing solo in Korea, Holland, France, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, Singapore, Thailand, Taiwan, China, the United Kingdom and the United States. Following such an impressive list of performances, the staff and students at Bromsgrove were particularly excited to host her as a visitor to the school, where she performed a very special piano recital during the afternoon, and parents were invited to be a part of her audience in the Performing Arts Centre.
Dr. Lee also offered our students the opportunity to attend unique one-to-one masterclasses, which was of particular interest to our BIST Piano students, Music Scholars, GCSE and A Level Music students, who embraced the day wholeheartedly. Dr. Lee has a wealth of teaching experience, having taught students at Oklahoma State University as the Visiting Assistant Professor of Piano, at Fort Hays State University as the Assistant Professor of Piano and at Southern Illinois University Carbondale, where she is currently the Associate Professor of Piano and the Director of the SIU Summer Piano Camp and the SIU Summer Piano Competition. Now she can add Bromsgrove International School Thailand to her list of inspired students.
