School Uniform & Equipment and School Shop
School uniform policy
At Bromsgrove, we believe that a uniform instills pride in the school and allows each student to feel part of the wider Bromsgrove family. Students are expected to wear the prescribed uniform correctly every school day between 07:00 and 15:30, except on specific designated days.
The School Shop at Windsor Park Campus is where you can purchase uniform and school supplies. It provides a quality uniform to all Bromsgrove students at both sites. The School Shop is open 07:30 to 08:00, 10:10 to 10:30 and 15:30 to 16:00, Monday to Friday. It is advisable for parents of students requiring full uniform, or those with a substantial list of items, to make an appointment by telephoning the School office.
Parents of Bromsgrove Early Years School may order their uniform requirements from the Early Years Office, for next day delivery to the Early Years campus.
At the Windsor Park campus, we expect all students to arrive in full school uniform and it is not acceptable to arrive in a PE kit if you have a PE lesson that day. At the Early Years Campus, we allow students to arrive in PE kit if their first lesson of that day is PE, as this reflects the age and independence of our younger students. We believe that commonly accepted standards of modesty and neatness will ensure appropriate and non-offensive student dress in an international school setting.
Please note the following key points/guidelines:
- There should be no extreme of hairstyle. Hair should be smart and of the same length across the head i.e. no shaved and long parts together is acceptable.
- No hair length should fall below the shirt collar for boys. Boys are not allowed to have hair tied in a ponytail (it is too long if this is needed!).
- If requested by the school, a student will modify their hairstyle or colour if the Headmaster deems the style/colour to be against our guidelines.
- At WP Campus, students will tie their hair back as requested by teachers, for example in practical Science lessons.
- At the Early Years Campus and in Primary School (Years 2 to 6), all girls with hair longer than shoulder length are required to tie it back while on campus.
- Hair should be of a natural colour throughout – no dyed/coloured hair/sections of hair is allowed.
- No patterns/designs shaved into the hair are allowed under any circumstances.
- No interwoven hair braids of any colour are allowed at any time.
- All students at Windsor Park Campus are required to wear plain Black leather shoes only – NOT black (or any other coloured) trainers.
- Students at Early Years Campus are required to wear plain Black/White trainers (PN & N); plain Black Shoes (Reception & Year 1), plus bringing White trainers for PE ONLY (Reception & Year 1).
- Socks should be plain in colour and of a standard ‘above ankle’ length – barely visible ‘trainer socks’ are not permitted.
- Girls should only wear a plain, narrow ‘alice-band’ type hair band. Hair bands should not be of a wide material bandana style, or in bright/sparkly colours, or have any additional parts sticking up/out.
- No make-up and/or nail varnish is permitted for any student across the whole school. Students wearing make-up will be sent to their Head of School to remove it.
- Students are permitted to wear a watch (please note that any Apple watch, e-watch / fitness trackers are NOT permitted, in line with our electronic device policy).
- No other wristbands are allowed to be worn (including charity/religious wristbands).
- Girls only are permitted to one pair of small sleeper or stud type earrings.
- Necklaces must be worn underneath the uniform and must be removed for PE and sports ECAs (for health and safety reasons). For safety reasons, we recommend Primary students do not wear any necklaces at any time on campus.
- No other jewelry is permitted at any time.
- All EY and Primary students must wear a cap when outside at playtime, lunchtime and during PE lessons and ECAs/clubs. Please note that if your child does not have a hat they will not be allowed to take part in the activities outside.
- We also strongly encourage Secondary students to do the same for sun safety reasons.
- Skirts for girls should be knee-length throughout the school, including in the Sixth Form.
