It has been a immensely positive first week of the academic year 2018/19 in the Secondary school at Bromsgrove as we have welcomed back our returning secondary students as well as welcoming our new students from other schools around the world. A special welcome to our new Year 7 who have had a very successful first week and I wish them all a very happy and fun-filled learning journey with us in Secondary.
We are looking forward to our ECA programme starting next Tuesday, with a huge variety of activities from which the students have chosen their preferences. I have already been impressed with the amount of Sixth Form students requesting to lead or support specific ECAs such as Debating, The BIST Newspaper and Smile Club. The students are demonstrating a clear passion for developing their leadership skills and I am proud of them for being so proactive!
There are many events coming up over the next half term, both in and outside of school. Dependent on their year group and also the subjects which they are studying, there are numerous opportunities for students such as: representing the school if selected as a member of a school Sports Team, being part of the School Production, seeing a Live Theatre performance, attending an Oxford Union debating workshop and taking part in a Choral Day as well as trips to Pattaya for a beach and reef clean up, a Model United Nations conference, a Youths for SDG conference and an English trip to Singapore to see a Shakespeare play. Please do check into your Parent Portal to keep up to date with everything happening at school! Details of how to log on to Parent Portal can be obtained from the SIC.
Wishing everyone a successful and enjoyable half term!
