FOBISIA UPDATE

August 19, 2014

Dear Parents,

It is with great enthusiasm that I write to inform you of some exciting developments in sport at BIST. This year, we successfully joined the FOBISIA, the premier organisation of British International Schools across South and South East Asia.

As a result of this, we now have the opportunity to take part in competitive sport against schools throughout the region. We will continue to take part in our local BISAC sporting league as before, but this will now be enhanced by these regional competitions.

The “FOBISIA Games” take place at various times over the course of the academic year. They are normally 3 day events consisting of Basketball (or T-Ball for Primary students), Swimming, Athletics and Football. The events for next year take place at the following times and venues:

  • The first event is the U15 Games from 13 to 15 November 2014, and will be hosted by Traill International School, Bangkok.
  • In March 2015, the U13 Games will take place at Garden International School Rayong.
  • Finally, the Regent’s School Bangkok will host the Primary Games in May 2015.

This is a great opportunity for our students to take part in even more sport for BIST, and we hope to participate in each competition. Further details will follow in due course, but, in the meantime, please do not hesitate to contact me should you require further information

Yours faithfully

Darren Beanland
Director of Sport
