Intensive English and Adventure Summer Camp Daily Update – 4&5 July 2019

July 5, 2019

On Thursday, the 4th of July, campers were registered and dropped off by parents and guardians. There was much anticipation of the fun and exciting experiences to come. Our boarding staff welcomed campers into the boarding houses and gave them a full tour of their new accommodations. After a healthy and delicious dinner the boys and girls had time to relax, play games, and enjoy time with new friends!

Today was the first official day of summer camp, and it was a very busy day! Day campers were registered in our Performing Arts Centre, and all attended an informative orientation in which they met boarding and academic staff and learned about the fun to come in the next two weeks. Following orientation, campers and staff went on a “walk-and-talk” tour of our lovely campus, and they got to see and discuss all of the fun and important places they will need to know about during camp. The tour ended in our classrooms where team-building and color competitions began. Everyone got to know one another, and there were many smiling faces.

After lunch, campers got to experience a “mini rotation” as they went around and had short classes with each of our classroom teachers. We all shared about ourselves and our home countries, and it was a very nice day for all to get acquainted. This was an important day academically, as teachers got an idea of campers’ English skills for the first time. Following our mini lessons, campers moved on to sports time, and all enjoyed a friendly game of dodge ball with our P.E. staff.

All campers worked hard and played hard today, and we are looking forward to an excellent camp this year!
